Default Returning to Guildwars.

So I played guildwars for about two years. These were not considered the ‘glory years’, but I still enjoyed it very much. I was in a semi-active gvg guild. We did fine with the standard builds back then, but I would not say we were the greatest. One day my computer crashed. When I got it repaired gw got an error message whenever I loaded it, so I forgot about it.

Now I saw it on a shelf, and I feel the urge to get back into it (I have a new computer now). But then I come here and it is almost abandoned, with barely any new posts. And the posts alone are about how anet needs to fix the game.

So my question to anyone who still comes here is, should I bother or will I be disappointed?

If you have an active account, you don't need to buy it again. Just grab the client and run it, it'll download everything you need.

If you already have a Guild Wars account, you may also use this downloadable client to install Guild Wars when your original media is unavailable. You will need your account login information to access the game.
As for whether or not it's worth it: The game's old, the playerbase has diminished as a result, blah blah blah. Izzy just dropped the biggest turd ever and the recent mAT was complete crap as a result.

Whether there's still fun to be had is entirely opinion. If you haven't played for a while, chances are nostalgia will keep you going for a while at least.

If you played the first 2 years then you certainly did experience the glory years. All you've missed is the last 10 months of crap. But based on your post, you don't have the perspective for that to matter anyway, so it shouldn't really affect your choice now.

I played on and off, and I started right when factions came out. If you are saying that i do not understand the game, well i do. I played with some very intelligent people who taught me everything that you can teach someone about this game. They are the only reason i am logging on again.

sinsplits wins tourneys now, and the game still experiences a horrible balance.

Basically, you just don't seem to have a clear scope of perspective here. Factions came out less than 2 years ago, so if you've been away for as long as you insinuate, then you really didn't play for long. The other thing is that these forums still have relatively the same amount of decent activity as ever, and the topics have always been about why the game is bad in order to hopefully encourage positive change. Also, if you have a high enough awareness & grasp of the meta-subjects, you could just read some current threads to get a clear idea of the game's state. Based on these issues, I maintain that the questions you're asking really don't seem all that relevant to your decision.

after you downloaded that small file remember to do this

1. right click your shortcut
2. in the "Target" field change (might not be in same folder) "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" to "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image
3. double click and run the shortcut
4. go to sleep and wake up with ALL of GW installed and extracted ^_^

-image will download everything, it doesn't take too long to go without it though. What you'll get if you don't run -image is one long wait to start the game, one long wait the first time you zone in, one long wait every time you zone into an area from a different campaign, and then smaller waits (i.e. minute or less) when zoning into areas that will gradually decrease as you play.
